Big and Ferocious
Have you ever seen a teeny, tiny dog that thinks it’s a German Shepherd? Or a cat that acts as if it’s the king of the jungle and owns the place? While these animals in the natural may not be big and ferocious, they use their attitudes to make it appear as if they are. And many times they can send an attacker running simply because they act tough.
So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you. James 4:7 (The Passion Translation, TPT)
As children of God, we are not the Lion of the tribe of Judah, but He is our Big Brother. And because our Big Brother always has our back, we can walk around and act like we are big and ferocious. When the devil attacts, we can turn to him and roar in his face. We have the authority to make him run in terror because we have a Savior who already beat him black and blue and took his keys away. When we operate in the authority that Jesus gave us, we cannot be conquered.
The key is to remember that we are not big and bad in ourselves, but our ferociousness comes from Jesus Christ. We don’t have to be afraid of the devil because he has already lost. He is simply trying to bluff his way back into the game. When we stand up to him and call his bluff, he has no choice but to flee. So, the next time the devil tries to tell you that you are finished, just smile really big, and then open your mouth and roar. Use the name of Jesus and send him packing!
