Receiving the Secret Things of God
The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Psalm 25:14 (KJV)
We see from this verse that God has secrets, and He reveals those secrets to those who fear Him. To those people will God show His covenant.
The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. Psalm 25:14 (New International Version, NIV)
When we look at this verse in the NIV, we see that God confides only in certain people- those who fear Him. God shares His deepest, intimate secrets with them. Imagine the Creator of the universe confiding in you- and He will if you fear Him.
The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning. Psalm 25:14 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
Looking at the Amplified Classic, we learn that as we spend time with God, we enjoy His sweet, satisfying companionship. By fearing, or revering and worshiping, God, He opens His heart to us and shares with us. He tells us the things on His heart and gives us deeper inner meaning of Scriptures, thus taking us deeper in Him.
There’s a private place reserved for the lovers of God, where they sit near Him and receive the revelation-secrets of His promises. Psalm 25:14 (The Passion Translation, TPT)
God will put us in a private place to be with Him, to know Him, to worship Him, to receive from Him. The closer we get to Him, the the more we know Him and His promises. As we become lovers of God in the private place of our hearts, we sit near Him and receive the secrets that He doesn’t just share with anyone. God shares the secrets of His heart and His promises with those who seek Him out and who give Him reverence.
To receive the secret things of God, we must draw near in the secret place. We must give Him honor and reverential fear. Secrets are not broadcast in the open- they are communicated in intimate places. God will share His secrets with those who are close to Him.
So keep pursuing God. As God finds you in the secret place, He will reveal Himself to you more and more.
