We Shall See Him As He Is
And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. Matthew 17:1-2 (KJV)
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. II Peter 3:8 (KJV)
From the verse in II Peter, we understand that on God’s timetable, a day can be the equivalent of 1,000 years. Let’s apply this to the passage above from Matthew 17 and see what deeper insight that passage gives us.
Six days speaks of six thousand years of man on earth. The following 1,000 years is when we go into the millennial (1,000 year) reign of Christ on earth.
The passage in Matthew says that after six days they went up into a mountain and Jesus was transfigured, or transformed, before them. They saw Jesus in His glorified form. This symbolically points to something about the future. After six days, or 6,000 years, Jesus will take the church up to heaven and we shall see Jesus as He is- the glorified Lord.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. I John 3:2 (KJV)
The disciples saw the Lord transfigured, changed to another form, and His face did shine like the sun. In the same way, when we see Jesus at the rapture, or the catching away of the church, we will see Him as He is. In addition to seeing His glorified form, He will change us by His glory, giving us glorified bodies like His. We will take on the person of Jesus- we will be like Him.
Truly, time is short. We are winding things down. No matter how you calculate it, the six days, the six thousand year period, is ending and God is preparing us to see Jesus as He is. We will see Jesus in His glory. Be ready- He is coming soon to get His church!
