A Holy Ease- Part 2
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel…. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. Matthew 8:5-10, 13 (KJV)
Yesterday we began talking about living life with a holy ease. This centurion faced a crisis, which can happen to anyone at one time or another. The question is: what do we do in such situations? Do we struggle and stress over them, or do we handle them with ease? It’s a choice.
The centurion wanted Jesus to heal his servant. The Greek word pais, translated as servant could also be translated son, so we don’t know for sure which it was, but this person was important to the centurion. Rather than have Jesus come to his house to heal him, the centurion told Jesus to speak the word only. The centurion understood the concept of authority. Jesus was impressed by his level of faith, and the servant (son) was healed.
When we face things, we are not at a disadvantage. We can face them with ease if we choose to do so. As we know and trust Jesus’ Word, we can speak it in authority and in faith by the name of Jesus. When we do, we will see the end result turn out for our good, just as we decreed it would.
Don’t struggle with needs and challenges, but stay in peace. Rest in God with a holy ease. As you speak the Word with faith, you will receive what you have spoken. Speak the Word and let it work for you. As we believe and speak God’s Word, we remain in a holy ease.
