Overcoming Life Issues- Part 1
There are challenges is the life of every person. We can be assured that the Lord has given us ways to deal with and overcome them. We are going to discuss three of them, probably the main three.
The Word
The Spirit
The Name
Today, we’ll focus on the Word. My father in the faith, Dr. Peter Doseck, had a ministry slogan that he used to put on tape labels and other ministry materials: “When all else fails, the Word prevails.” I love that saying, because it so true.
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel…. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. Matthew 8:5-10, 13 (KJV)
The centurion came to Jesus asking Him to heal his servant. Rather than have Jesus come in person to lay hands on the servant, he said for Jesus to “speak the word only.” He understood that words release authority. Maybe you have tried everything you know of to fix a situation but nothing has worked. Speak God’s Word and His Word will prevail. This man’s servant was healed by the spoken Word of God mixed with faith and authority.
We are to stand until victory comes. Victory is guaranteed if we don’t stop standing on the Word of God.
When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. Matthew 8:16-17 (KJV)
We see that Jesus set people free and healed them by His Word, thus fulfilling Isaiah 53:4. Jesus was fulfilling prophecy every time He spoke the Word. As He spoke the Word, He was taking their sicknesses. The spoken Word was fulfilling the written Word and brought manifestation. It still works that way today.
Speaking God’s Word brings change to our lives. No matter what we have to deal with, the Word will be fulfilled and will manifest in our lives- just like it was in Jesus’ time.
Tomorrow we’ll continue our discussion on Overcoming Life Issues- focusing our attention on the Spirit of God.
