Don't Let That One Thing Defeat You
Neither give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:27 (KJV)
The enemy attacks to see if there are any cracks in us or in our lives where he can get in and bring us down. We can live 99 percent walking in victory but if there is one thing that we haven’t gotten victory over the devil will use it to try to defeat us. We must close every door on the enemy to keep from giving him place to get in.
Saul was anointed king and he did well for a while. Then he let the enemy get in. He attempted to please the people more than God. God gave him opportunities to get things right but he just got worse and worse until he ended his own life. It only takes one thing- one are of weakness- that lets the enemy get in. Then, we get weaker and begin to give in to other things. If not repented of, it can bring us defeat. We must get rid of the little foxes that would try to eat at our vines. Don’t let that one thing defeat you.
Jesus, on the other hand, was totally surrendered to do the will and work of the heavenly Father. He was completely sold out to be and do that which His father had Him come to earth to do. He sought to please the Father in their relationship and He obeyed every instruction. Jesus gave no place to the devil. even when He was tempted, Jesus overcame by speaking God’s Word.
Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. John 14:30 (KJV)
The more we obey the Lord, the more we overcome day by day. Jesus said the devil had no place in Him. The devil could not find a crack in Jesus in which to get in His life to destroy Him. Jesus was full of God and followed God step by step, day by day, all the way. Jesus said that He would obey the will of His Father rather than His own. Jesus was anointed and He kept His anointing by following God’s plan for His life. Saul did not fulfill all of God’s plan and in the end it cost him his life. Jesus fulfilled God’s plan by laying His life down. In the end, He kept His life through the resurrection.
As we stay full of God, the enemy will find no room to get in. He will have no place to operate and occupy. As we obey God, live for God, and serve God 100 percent, we will fulfill God’s will and finish His work. As we walk in the Word, we won’t fall or fail God. As we are faithful and committed 100 percent, we won’t let that one thing defeat and destroy us as it has with so many others. As a result, we will keep our anointing.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word…. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:39, 42 (KJV)
Rather than do that one thing that defeats others, we will do the one thing that is needful- sit in Jesus’presence, at His feet, and receive from Him all we need. We will be full of Jesus, with no room for the devil to get in or defeat. We will walk in victory 100 percent as we walk with Jesus 100 percent.
