Are you Ready For The Harvest?
“After this, I will pour out my Spirit on all kinds of people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28 (New Century Version, NCV)
Joel prophesied of a last great endtime harvest of souls. It would be characterized by a great outpouring of the Spirit of God on, as the King James Version says, all flesh. I like the way the New Century Version put is, saying that the Spirit will be poured out on all kinds of people. Habakkuk spoke of the same thing.
For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, As the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV)
Once again, the New Century Version makes it plainer for us.
Then, just as water covers the sea, people everywhere will know the Lord’s glory. Habakkuk 2:14 (New Centiry Version, NCV)
Both of these verses- from Joel and Habakkuk- tell us that this great awakening coming to Planet Earth will affect people everywhere, all kinds of people. While some of us are prepared for this influx of new believers from every walk of life, many of us are not. In this great and glorious time that is nearly upon us, we will see every kind of person imaginable.
There will be those with tattoos, piercings, ear gauges, and so forth. There will be those with green hair and black fingernails. There will be the homeless and unbathed. There will be those who have been bound by drugs, pornography, alcohol or other addictions. Witches, warlocks, and satan worshippers will be saved. Homosexuals, transsexuals, bisexuals, as well as adulterers, and fornicators will accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord. There will be those with cowboy hats and spurs coming in from the range. There will be factory workers, corporate executives, housewives, and scientists. Men, Women, boys, and girls will all experience the glory that is being poured out. Are you ready? Is your heart open to love and accept people who are very different in appearance and in their experiences than you?
Today, while we are in the beginning days of this amazing time, let’s prepare our hearts. Let’s get in the Word of God and see how Jesus treated people of all backgrounds. He dined with tax collectors and sinners. He showed the love and mercy of God to prostitutes. And while, he did not condone sin, He loved the sinner. He loved them so much He died for them.
God did not make us clean up our acts before we could be saved, and He does not expect others to do so either. Once we are born again, then the Holy Spirit begins the lifelong work of sanctification to change us and make us more and more like Jesus.
We must be prepared to receive the great outpouring of the glory of God on the earth, but we must also be prepared to receive the people that are touched by this spiritual awakening. Pray for a heart that is soft and compassionate towards sinners and open to receive them into the family of God.
