Receiving your Miracle
God is a miracle-working God. Everybody at one time or another needs a miracle. Whatever God has created, He can and will recreate when He finds someone who will believe Him. The account found in John 9:1-7 is a prime example.
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
Jesus saw this blind man, even though the man could not see Him. God sees us in our need even when we aren’t able to see Him or aren’t looking at Him. Yet, God is reaching out to us, helping us to receive what we need.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
When problems arise, we always want to know the reason for them. However, instead of focusing on the problem and the cause of the problem, we need to focus our attention on God.
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
Jesus answered, telling them that no one’s sin had caused it. We must remember that sin is in the world and that all people are born into sin, therefore all of us at one time or another experience the effects of sin. Yet, sometimes, no one particular person’s sin has caused the problem. That’s a different subject for another post. Regardless of the reason, God still wants to help us and wants to manifest His power to meet the need.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
Jesus is the Light of the World, the great I Am, showing us that light conquers darkness. No matter why we’re in the situation we’re in, Jesus will deliver us and make a way for us. Jesus will take action to help us.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
First Jesus spoke, then He acted. Our words are to first declare what God has promised so it can be made manifest. Then, Jesus spat on the ground and made clay, or mud, with His spittle. He anointed (which means to rub in or rub on) the man’s eyes with the clay, spreading it on his eyes. We must remember that man was made from the ground. Jesus is doing what He saw His Father do when he made Adam. Both acted and perfomed a miracle; One produced life, and One produced sight. So, we see the Light of Life in action helping mankind.
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
To receive a miracle from God, we have to understand that both God and man have a part to play.God’s part is that He tells us what to do. If we obey and follow through with His instruction, we will receive our miracle.
Jesus came to heal us of physical blindness as well as spiritual blindness so we can see Jesus and who He is. He came to reveal Himself to us as the great I Am, and came to lead us out of every dark, bad, and difficult situation. As we follow Him and His directions, He will give us sight to see, life to live, and a miracle to meet every need. He wants us to follow His example to go and bring others to Him so they too can be set free.
