Our Earth Assignment

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:27-28 (KJV)

From the beginning, God gave mankind an assignment to be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth. Mankind was to subdue it and have dominion. When God gives an assignment, it is what He wants us to do. it is not a suggestion. God blessed mankind by spoken words, empowering man to do what God gave him to do.

We are to be fruitful in the strength of God. We are to accomplish our assignment with God, not on our own. When God speaks, He gets involved and helps us. We get in agreement with Him by saying what God says and doing what He has told us to do.

We are to multiply, which speaks of increase. God not only adds to us, but He multiplies. Partnering with God accelerates things for us. He put us on earth, then gave us an earth assignment to be and do what He has made each of us to be and do- with His help. As we hear from God, he tells us what to do and how to do it.

He helps us subdue what stands in our way, and we take dominion over the domain He has given us. This helps us to fulfill our God-given assignment; our earth assignment from heaven.

Ye are the salt of the earth; Matthew 5:13 (KJV)

We are the salt of the earth, and salt preserves things. As our assignment, we are to preserve the earth and make its inhabitants thirsty for God and the things of God. The Bible says that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. God owns the earth and everything in it, and it is to be full of His glory. As we let people know who the Lord is by His Word, Spirit, and our love for others, they will experience the knowledge of the glory of the Lord like the waters cover the sea. The earth is to be full of God’s praise through the church.

We are to enforce God’s will on earth and make these days of heaven on earth through the dominion God gave us. As God blessed man with words, we are to do the same, and the more of heaven we can experience on earth now. We take dominion over the earth for the Lord’s glory so others see the goodness of the Lord.

Jesus will reign on earth for 1,000 years, but for now God has given us an earth assignment. That assignment is to be light, proclaim the Gospel, and do what God puts before us each day. Currently, we are in training- training for reigning. Our earth assignment from heaven is training us to reign with Christ for 1,000 years and then for all eternity. Let’s be faithful over little now, so we can be rulers over much later.
