By My Spirit

Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6 (KJV) emphasis mine

Human strength can’t accomplish what God wants for us. He purposely calls us to things that are too big and too difficult for us to do. Yet, we may try and discover that our labor was in vain; that what we tried didn’t work or what we built did not last.

We must have and rely on the help of the Holy Spirit. After all, He’s called the Helper, so we need to let Him help us. We must start and continue in the outpouring, empowering, and infilling of the Holy Spirit in order to be and do all that God has called us to. The Book of Acts verifies this.

Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; Isaiah 32:15-18 (KJV)

This shows us that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit will turn the wilderness into a fruitful field, then to a forest. This shows a process of growth for us. Development can be a slow process. Fruit must grow, but the Holy Spirit can accelerate things if need be so we grow faster. Holy Spirit’s work of righteousness produces peace, quietness, and assurance. He makes us right and helps us to do right for God. We will be quiet and assured in what we do by and for God. We will live in peaceful habitation, sure dwellings, and quiet resting places. By the Holy Spirit, we arrive in the place God wants us to be in without the stress of trying to do it on our own. “It’s by My Spirit,” says the Lord.
