No Charges Against Us

No Charges Against Us

Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Romans 8:33 (New International Version, NIV)

The word charge is the Greek word enkaleo, which means to bring a charge against or to come forward as an accuser. In other words, it means to accuse. According to this verse, no one has the right to accuse or condemn us because God has made and calls us righteous.

No matter what we’ve done, if God has forgiven us, then we should not receive any person’s condemnation, judgment, or accusation against us. We can reject it and accept that God loves us, has forgiven us, and has a good future for us. We are not sinners saved by grace, but instead we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

The books are clean. Your record has been expunged and you have a clean slate. The charged were dropped and erased when you received Jesus. Jesus, your Savior, Defense Attorney, and Redeemer, has redeemed you from the penalty and judgment of sin, satan, the Law, and man’s accusations. God does not condemn you, so don’t let others or yourself condemn, or pass judgment on, you. Since Christ was already judged and took our past, present, and future penalties, there’s nothing left to be held against us. Therefore, as we walk in the Light, continuing and abiding in Christ, we are without condemnation.

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. II Corinthians 5:21 (New International Version, NIV)

God declares us righteous since we’ve been made righteous in Christ. When God looks at us, He does not see sin or failure, but He sees Jesus Christ because we are in Him. We are righteous, which gives us the right to be free, forgiven, and happy. We have no blame and no shame- just a new name: Christian. We are called Christians, which means little Christs, Christlike, anointed ones. Wow!

So, walk now in the liberty in which Christ has made you free, thanking God for it. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!
