God is Life, Light, and Love
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; I John 1:1 (KJV)
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. I John 1:5 (KJV)
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. I John 4:8 (KJV)
Life
I John 1 says that God is life; the Word of life. Genesis 1:1 says that God created. God, who is life, created life by His spoken Word. According to John 1:1-3, Jesus is the Word. Therefore, all life is in Christ; God’s life, zoe life. As we receive and abide in Jesus Christ, by remaining in His Word, we have life. The same Life Word that created the worlds recreates us and gives us a new world in Christ.
Light
I John 1:5 tells us that God is light. Genesis 1:3 says that God said “Let there be light,” and there was light. When we were born-again by the spoken Word- the Word we confessed and believed- Jesus the Living Word gave us light. The light of Christ drove out the darkness that was in us. When we were born-again, we became children of life and light. As we walk in the light, we walk with God for He is light.
Love
I John 4:8 says that God is love. God is a love God. Because He is love, He created mankind and blessed us and gave us dominion over all he created (Genesis 1:21-28). We are to rule from a position of the Father’s love for His creation.
God’s life gives us the ability to live the way God made and recreated us to live. God’s light gives us revelation on how to live and rule the way He intended. God’s love lets us know, when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord, that we are in the family and loved by the Trinity.
God created life. Mankind died in sin. Jesus came and restored the “God life” to us. As we walk in the light, we walk in God and He in us, thus seeing who God intends us to be and what He intends for us to do. God’s love makes us secure and whole, so we can be the person He made us to be. God is life, light, and love, and this enables us to know Him, fellowship with Him, and brings us back to the beginning of it all, which is God.
