Only Blessed

Only Blessed

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)

As born-again Christians, we are no longer under the curse of the Law because we are in Christ, and He took the curse on Himself. He took the curse and gave us the blessing.

We no longer have to earn God’s blessings because of Christ. God gave us the gift of Jesus so he could give us the gift of the blessing. The Blesser gave us the blessing. It is no longer through our works that we receive God’s blessings, but through the finished works of Christ. It’s not in how good we act or how holy we live, but it’s in Christ’s perfection. It’s a substitutionary thing. He fulfilled the requirements of God’s Law- every bit of it. Therefore, we stand righteous and redeemed in Christ in Who He is, what He did, and who he made us.

Jesus Christ took the curse of the Law and bestowed the blessing of Abraham upon us that we might receive the promise. All that God promised Abraham is ours, not by might or by power or by works of the flesh, but by faith in Christ. Our faith in Jesus gives us the righteousness that He purchased at the cross.

We are redeemed. In other words, Christ paid for us and all we’ll ever need. Now, He gives to us a free gift of salvation that can’t be earned or bought. We please God and are blessed by Him because of what Christ has done. We are freed from the curse not by our efforts, but by the finished works of Christ. Now, we are not cursed, but we are only blessed.
