Under Our Feet

Under Our Feet

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20 (KJV)

The word that was translated here as power is the Greek word exousia, which might better be rendered authority. Jesus has all authority and He gave authority to His body, the church. Christ, the Head of the body, holds authority as well. He has shared it with us. Why? He shared it so we can use His authority to continue what Christ started in His earthly ministry and finished at the cross. We are to enforce the victory Jesus won. The authority of Christ gives us the ability to walk in supernatural wonders to stand upon the enemy’s head.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:15-18 (KJV)

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15 (KJV)

The seed of the woman was Jesus. The seed of the serpent would be satan and the people who followed him. Through the crucifixion, Jesus bruised them, stomped on them, and gave them a severe beating. He took away the enemy’s authority and He shared it with you and me.

And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. Romans 16:20 (KJV)

The God of peace treads upon and crushes satan. Where does He do this? Under His feet? No- under OUR feet! We’re His body and so whatever is under the feet of Jesus is under our feet as well.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19 (KJV)

By using the name of Jesus, we can crush the head of the enemy under our feet like a bug. We enforce satan’s defeat. The only place he belongs is under our feet. Give him no place to get out from under your feet by sinning.

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Ephesians 1:19-23 (KJV)

Jesus Christ has all authority and has delegated authority to us, His body. Christ expects us to use our Christ-given authority to keep satan down. As mentioned in the Book of Joshua, when kings had been conquered in battle, the winner would put his foot on the neck of the losing king. This showed the enemy’s total submission. Our feet should be on the devil’s neck to show his submission to the authority we have through Christ. He is totally defeated. It is our job to continually remind him of this.

We must keep the enemy under our feet and keep treading on him, grinding and smashing his head into the ground as we move forward in God, marching forth in total victory.
