Groan For All That Groans
When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled. John 11:33 (KJV)
The word groaned in the Greek is embrimaomai, which shows strong emotional anger. Jesus was emotional and very angry at sin and satan for bringing death to his friend, Lazarus. This anger moved Him to action. He spoke life and commanded Lazarus to come forth- and he did. Jesus fights for those who can’t fight for themselves. He comes to the rescue to make wrong things right again. He brings dead things back to life.
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:22-27 (KJV)
This says that all creation groaneth. Groaneth is sustenazo in the Greek, which means to moan jointly, experience a common calamity, groan together. This passage tells of a three-fold groaning: creation, believers, and Holy Spirit. Sadly, this shows us that there is a lot of groaning, travailing, and pain going on in the world.
Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. John 11:41-42 (KJV)
Just as Jesus groaned for His friend, Jesus lifts up a prayer to His Father for others as well. Just as now creation is groaning, we must lift up prayer, groaning in the Spirit in tongues. Feel for others and try to understand what they go through. Then pray them through to victory. We do this until creation is redeemed and restored back to the Garden of Eden state. Eden means delight in Hebrew.
Jesus prayed for others to be restored, and God is calling us to pray until we pray people into His kingdom. Also, He wants us to pray for believers to mature, and we are to pray for all to know God, praying until Jesus comes and makes a new heaven and earth.
The heart of Jesus groans for for all that groaneth - until all is released and restored back to the way it was at the beginning- a garden of delight.
