Make 2019 Your Best Year Yet
We are approaching a new year, and while some people are big on new year’s resolutions, I believe that trying to change ourselves without involving God and His Word is an effort in futility. I believe the best thing we can do for ourselves at the beginning of a new year is to make a fresh commitment to get into and live by the Word of God.
If you have never read the entire Bible, I would highly encourage you to commit to doing so. It can be extremely rewarding and immersing yourself in scripture daily will change your life. There are a number of reading plans you can access online- many of them for free. Some are printable and others are electronic, so there is something for everyone. They are set up in a number of different ways. Some are made to be chronological, meaning the scripture is read in the chronological order that the events happened. I would not recommend that type of reading plan unless you are already familiar with the Word of God. Others group readings so you can read in both the Old and New Testaments each day. I would recommend this type of reading plan for beginners. The main thing is to get into the Word daily so you can get the Word into you.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11 (KJV)
When we have the Word hidden in our hearts, it keeps us living right and keeps our minds focused on God rather than circumstances around us. Reading the Bible everyday seals the truth of scripture in our hearts, so we can pull from it whenever we need it. We can more easily live a victorious life when the Word is alive within us.
To assist you in this, I found a great reading plan from the Christian Broadcasting Network. To pull it up and print it out, just use this link:
Only by hiding the Word in our hearts can we affect real, lasting change in ourselves and in our lives. Make 2019 your best year yet by making it a year built around the Bible.
