Figure It Out or Faith It Out?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 (New Living Translation, NLT)
There are going to be times in life where things just don’t make sense to us. There are many situations that we will not be able to figure out. At those times, we must choose to trust God, understanding that He knows all and that He is at work in our lives for our good.
We can go to the Lord and ask Him why certain things have happened the way they have. Sometimes He will show us and give us the answers we seek. However, there will be times when we will not discover the reason, and then it is time to walk by faith.
We need to comprehend that events are not always cut and dried and easy to understand. Much of the time, there are multiple things that come into play. We’re dealing with things like the choices of other people, our own past choices, future events that God knows about and we don’t, and so on. And sometimes God cannot tell us because we are not prepared for the truth, and it could harm or destroy us if we knew. There is the possibility that God may reveal some things to us bit by bit as we grow and are able to handle it. And there will be some things we will never understand in this life. That’s what faith is all about- trusting God. We must trust Him because He truly does know what is best and He is working things out for our good.
Choosing to trust Him means that at some point we decide to stop asking Him, “Why?” We elect to move on, and instead we ask Him to show us anything that we can learn and take away from what happened. God is a good Father and He is going to somehow use the experience to make us more like Him. He is trustworthy, and we must choose to faith it out rather than try to figure it out.
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. II Samuel 22:31 (New Living Translation, NLT)
