Seeing Clearly
John 20:20 (NKJV):
When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
The Passion Translation says:
Then he showed them the wounds of his hands and his side—they were overjoyed to see the Lord with their own eyes!
The Lord wants us to know He wants to give us 20/20 vision, both naturally and spiritually. God is speaking to us. As we begin to hear what He is saying, we will see what He wants us to see.
The first thing we need to "see" is that Jesus died for us and is alive. That's why Jesus showed His disciples His hands and side, giving them a clear view of the place where the nails had been driven and the sword was thrust in. As we see what Jesus has done for us, we can begin to see who we are in Him and that we are a part of Him. We are His and He is ours.
As we get into God's Word, it brings light; sight to see things spiritually. We are able to then walk in what He shows us: His life, love, wisdom, etc. We will begin to see what is revealed in God's Word, and that revelation will give us wisdom. It provides wisdom to determine what to buy or not buy, where to give and not give, steps to take or not take.
In the Old Testament there were people who were seers. They could see in the Spirit to find out what God was saying. They could speak what they saw, giving a Word from the Lord, and it would come to pass. For us, as New Testament believers, we do not need someone else to see for us. We can enter the presence of the Lord with His Word and in worship. As we do, God will begin to speak to us and show us things that will help us in life. God will anoint our eyes to see and our ears to hear what He is saying. If we have a heart to do what He tells us, He will give us more revelation and light to walk in. We will hear the Spirit telling us: "This is the way; walk in it." As we develop our spiritual senses by spending time in His presence and being obedient to carry out what He shows us, we will see amazing things from God. That's what 20/20 vision is all about. So, look into the Word, spend time with Him, and see the great things God has in store for you!
Zephaniah 3:20 (VOICE) says:
On that day, I will gather all of you together for one big homecoming. I will make you famous, and all the world will sing your praises. Right before your eyes, I will restore to you all that you have lost, and your lives will be full again. So says the Eternal One.
