Expect Good
There are times when God’s people may wonder, “Why are so many things going wrong?” We can experience times when multiple problems come our way at once, and we try to figure out if we have done something wrong. However, it may just be that you are living right.
Bad things happen to all of us. Jesus said that the rain falls on the just and the unjust, and He said that we will have tribulation (trials, pressure) in this world (John 16:33). Even Jesus was tested, tempted, harrassed, and ultimately crucified. Yet, He overcame. Don’t allow the negative things that happen keep you from being good and living right.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalms 34:19 (NKJV)
Remember, when wrong things happen to you, God is righteous. He will do what is right for you. And God is just. He makes wrong things right.
I was personaly in a situation where I was being mistreated by several different people. God eventually turned it around, and those same people began to like me and do things for me. Trusting God and not trying to vindicate yourself will put you on a path for Him to turn things around. Now, when I face something bad, I can reflect back on my prior experience and know that God will take care of things for me. God can take bad things and not just turn things around for you, but use those very things to move you along to where He wants you to be in your spiritual maturity. That in itself turns a negative into a positive. He uses bad situations as stepping stones to get you where He teally wants you.
Even when bad things happen, God is up to something good. Dwell on the goodness of God.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. Psalms 27:13-14 (KJV)
David had nearly given up. But the Lord impressed on him to keep believing in Him and His goodness. As we believe Him, God is working towards a good outcome for us. He will turn things around and give us a better situation than before!
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version, NIV)
God is always working for our good, no matter what is happening. The proper mindset is to always expect God’s goodness. Faith’s expectation is that something good will happen. As we persist in our belief and expectation of His good being worked out in our lives, we will experience it in reality- in our health, relationships, finances, work, ministries- in every area of life. When bad things happen, expect God’s goodness to come through for you.
We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan. Romans 8:28 (The Voice, VOICE)
