You Can't Keep A Giver Down

You Can't Keep A Giver Down

Psalm 112 is such a wonderful chapter. I have heard it called “The Prosperity of the Righteous.” Let’s look at what some of the verses are saying. After all, this is God speaking to us today and everyday. I have chosen to look at it in The Passion Translation (TPT).

Shout in celebration of praise to the Lord! Everyone who loves the Lord and delights in him will cherish his words and be blessed beyond expectation. Psalm 112:1 (TPT)

The lovers of God delight in God and cherish His Word. As we put Him first, we will be blessed beyond measure (Ephesians 3:20). As we seek God, His blessings will seek us.

Their descendants will be prosperous and influential. Every generation of his godly lovers will experience his favor. Psalm 112:2 (TPT)

As we seek Him and are blessed by Him, this extends to our descendants. They too will be prosperous.

Great blessing and wealth fills the house of the wise, for their integrity endures forever. Psalm 112:3 (TPT)

The wise, ones with integrity, experience great blessing and wealth. Wisdom is needed because it tells us how to utilize the blessings of God to bless others.

No matter what we go through, we are blessed. The blessing is a supernatural ability from God. It gives us favor so that no matter where we are, we rise to the top. It makes us the head and not the tail. We end up running things.

Life is good for the one who is generous and charitable, conducting affairs with honesty and truth. Psalm 112:5 (TPT)

As long as we remain generous and avoid selfishness and a stingy attitude, life will be good for us. We must be upright in the way we conduct ourselves and our affairs. Honesty really is the best policy.

Their circumstances will never shake them and others will never forget their example. Psalm 112:6 (TPT)

No matter what the situation, we are not shaken. Being givers has made us winners. Our trust is in God and we cannot lose. We can give our way out of any tight spot. You can’t keep a giver down! How we conduct ourselves when things look bad will serve as an example to others. Even a believer who appears to have lost every earthly possession still has everything because he has God. God is an endless source and supply, and He always is faithful to give us double for our trouble.

They will not live in fear or dread of what may come, for their hearts are firm, ever secure in their faith. Psalm 112:7 (TPT)

We are learning to live by faith. We depend on God, not man. My friend, without a doubt, there will be times when each of us finds ourselves in a spot where only God can meet the need. There is no need to fear at such times because we know God is with us. Worry or fear of the future is a huge waste of effort, and it is contrary to faith.

Steady and strong, they will not be afraid, but will calmly face their every foe until they all go down in defeat. Psalm 112:8 (TPT)

In God we have our stability and strength. There is no fear here. Because God is near, we have peace. We can face every evil opponent and enforce Christ’s victory over them until we personally see their defeat. In Christ, we come forth as the victor, walking in our prosperity and maintaining our righteousness.
