An Everlasting Love Affair
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. I John 4:8 (KJV) emphasis mine
God is love, thus God loves. Love is who He is.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. I Corinthians 13:4-8 (New International Version, NIV)
God’s love (and God Himself) never changes. His love is unconditional. God, and his love, are patient, kind, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily angered. God and His love keep no record of wrongs, but believe the best, always hope, always persevere, never fail or give up. He and His love protect. God and His love are everlasting, enduring forever.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1 (New International Version, NIV)
When you think that no one loves you, think again. The greatest love is Jesus, Who gave His life for us. He is patient and kind to us. He never gives up on us, never rejects us, and never leaves us. He believes in us and believes the best for us. When we don’t believe in ourselves, God believes and still has a good plan for us. We just need to agree with Him and we’ll see it.
When we don’t love ourselves, Jesus loves us. Even in our sin, He does not condemn us (although He doesn’t condone sin), but if we are serious, He will help us overcome sin. Jesus keeps no records of our wrongs once they’ve been repented of. So, forget your past- God has. Jesus took our wrongs and gave us His righteousness. This makes us righteous, so we can be and do right.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91:4 (KJV)
God’s love protects us like a mother hen who gathers her chicks under her wings. We’re under God’s wings as we live in His presence, safely protected with no fear of harm.
Love remains. As we remain in God, we’ll begin to experience God’s love, not that God is withholding His love from us, but we see His offering of love to us, and we reach out and receive it. We receive the God of love, Who draws us to Himself and holds us close to His heart so we can feel His love pouring out from Him to us. It’s a love relationship with the Lord, with each member of the Trinity showering His love on us, sharing His love with us, and showing His love to us.
As we gain more revelation and experience of how much God loves us, we will love Him again and again; it’s an everlasting love affair.
