Get A Vision And Run With It
And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:2-3 (KJV)
And then God answered: “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait! And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time. Habakkuk 2:2-3 (The Message, MSG)
Then Adonai answered me and said: “Write down the vision, make it plain on the tablets, so that the reader may run with it. Habakkuk 2:2-3 (Tree of Life Version, TLV)
Do you have a vision for your life? Do you even have a vision for the next five years? If not, how do you know if you have achieved God’s plans for you? Without a vision, we just float aimlessly through life without purpose. It is important to know what God desires for you- what He wants to do for you and what he wants to do through you. Without a destination in mind, we never know if we have arrived- and that is a formula for frustration.
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
Where there is no vision from God, the people run wild, but those who adhere to God’s instruction know genuinehappiness. Proverbs 29:18 (The Voice, VOICE)
People who have no guidance from God about where they are going simply cast off restraint and do whatever they want. That leads to destruction and failure. It is tremendously important to get God’s direction about the future.
We must spend time with God, reading His Word, praying and listening for His direction. God is a God of purpose. He wants you to have a game plan for the coming years. God will give a Word of direction, or a vision, for each year for all of His people as a world-wide body. In addition, he will give a vision to each nation, each local church, and to each individual believer. And all of His various directions will complement each other- they will not be at odds or contradict. For example, the vision he gives to an individual for his life for the coming year will line up and support the vision given to that person’s local church.
So, look to God for His plans for your life. Seek Him. He will show you the vision He has for you. And then you can run with it.
