Seeking God About 2020

New Year’s Day is less than a week away. If you haven’t yet been seeking God for direction in the new year and new decade, don’t wait any longer. God will speak to you and give you divine insight into what He has for you in 2020 and what He has for you to do.

Many people look at the areas in their lives that appear to need work and decide to work on those areas in the new year- resolutions, we call them. However, that is a purely natural way to begin the year- and it seldom lasts. The best thing to do is to receive our direction from the Lord. He sees areas that need work that we may not see. He knows how to approach areas for self-improvement and His way is always better and longer-lasting than anything we can come up with. Go to Him and ask Him what you need to do differently in 2020. He may tell you that you need to increase your prayer time, your study time, or even your giving. He may tell you that you need to work on your physical health or your relationships. No matter what He points out, He also has instruction for you on how to work on those areas. Spend time in His presence and listen for His voice coming to you down in your spirit. He will guide you.

This is also the time to seek the Lord about what to expect in 2020 and beyond. He will give you a Word for the new year, which will serve as a theme for the coming year. It may be a Word just for you and your family or it may be a Word regarding the nation, or even the entire body of Christ. God is not hesitant to show us things to come and declare to us what we can expect. For example, I was seeking Him for 2020, and the Lord spoke to me this word for the new year: “Increase and great gain.” I believe that God has increase and great gain for me in 2020 in many areas of my life, as well as for our country and for my fellow believers. And I plan to focus on listening to God throughout the year as I believe He will show me the specific ways to experience increase and great gain. And He will give you a word too for the coming year- if you ask and listen.
