Fight- Part 2
Yesterday, Jim talked to us about fighting the good fight of faith. We’ve been guaranteed the victory, but it takes guts and determination to keep fighting, especially when we get weary.
And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. Galatians 6:9 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
The enemy tries to beat us by outlasting us. He knows he’s already lost, but he figures if he can get us to give up in the middle of the fight, he can steal a win. We have to keep our eyes fixed on the Lord and the Word of God to stay strong in battle. We must get in His presence, and allow the joy of the Lord to strengthen us when the warfare is strong. When the enemy’s flaming arrows are flying and the bombs of fear and anxiety are bursting around us, we cannot take our eyes off of Jesus.
You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. II Timothy 2:3 (NKJV)
When we endure, we win. When it looks like the funds in our bank accounts look low, we don’t waver- we fight on. When we feel the pain of sickness in our bodies, we fight on. When relationships end or loved ones die, we firmly grasp the shield of faith- and we fight on.
Fighting means speaking the Word of God, but it also means we do not speak contrary to the Word. What we do NOT say is as imporant as what we do say. Speaking words of fear and doubt actually gives the enemy power. We must put a watch over our mouths to keep from speaking words that give the enemy an advantage over us. For an example, if you feel a pain in your body, don’t automatically start speaking doom and gloom. Your mother and grandmother may have died of breast cancer, but don’t you dare say it will happen to you! Your father may have had heart problems, but you must not claim it for yourself. We have a choice in what we have in our lives, and we make that choice with our mouths.
Don’t give up, fellow soldier. Keep fighting. Keep believing. Keep submitting to God and resisting the enemy. The enemy is defeated and the victory is ours! Fight on!
