Fresh Daily- Part 2
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Ephesians 5:18 (KJV)
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19 (KJV)
Yesterday we began a brief series on three things we need fresh from God every day. According to the Bible, we need a fresh Word, a fresh filling, and a fresh touch from God. Today, we’re going to continue our discussion and focus on our need for a fresh filling daily.
The verse in Ephesians noted above tells us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. it actually speaks of a continual filling. The words be filled in the original Greek are in a tense that would more accurately be translated be being filled. In other words, we need an ongoing filling; it is not a one-time event.
We need a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit daily so we are filled with the Spirit’s power, fire, anointing, wisdom, life, glory, and so much more. Throughout the Book of Acts people were filled with the Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. That was the start of the church age, and we are still in the church age- therefore we still need to be filled with the Holy Spirit- and be filled daily.
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)
In Acts 2, we see the day of Pentecost and the first filling of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 8, a year after the first filling at Pentecost, believers were filled with the Holy Spirit. In Acts 9, four years after Pentecost, believers were filled with the Holy Spirit. In Acts 18, seven years after Pentecost, believers were filled with the Holy Spirit. In Acts 19, 23 years after Pentecost, believers were filled with the Holy Spirit. You get the idea. They were filled over and over- the same ones and new ones.
We need to be filled and refilled to experience God, to Know Him, to do and be all that God called us to.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6 (KJV)
By God’s Spirit, things get done. Go to the Lord to get a fresh filling every day.
