Doers
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22
The word doers in this verse is the Greek word poietes, which means a performer, poet, maker, to act out in a theater, to put forth one’s abilities to achieve something. in this case, it means to act out a good performance to achieve something.
As we hear God’s Word, our our script, we are to act out our part- whether it be in a day, in a season, or in an experience. A doer performs God’s Word, and does what the script tells him to do. Like an actor, the doer must learn his lines. If he forgets his lines, he cannot carry out the performance as intended. God gives us His Word to hear, study, and know our lines, or our part, so we can perform in God’s plan or show. We are to carry out the script, or the Word, as it is intended.
By knowing the Word, or our lines, we speak the right thing at the right time, thus performing our part. As we carry out God’s Word, we are doers. Our goal is to do what God says to do to accomplish His intended purposes. Life is a stage. God is the Director. His Word is our script. We are the actors, carrying out the greatest show as actors on the stage of life. So, get in the Word and learn your lines, and give the most anointed and powerful performance possible.
