Christ The Word
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3 (KJV)
John reflects back to Genesis 1:1. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Christ, Who is the Word, or Logos in Greek, was with God when God- Elohim the Triune God- created it all.
In John 1:1, the word Logos refers to the personal Word of God; the expression of Who He is. So, Christ, Who is the Word of God and Who is God, was with the other members of the Trinity before and during creation. Christ, Who is the Word of God expresses who God is and all God is. Christ, as the Word, reveals the heart and mind of the Father and the Spirit.
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him. Colossians 1:15-16 (KJV)
Christ created heaven and earth. He existed with God in eternity before time began, along with the Holy Spirit. All three members of the Godhead were active in creation. Jesus Christ, the Word, was God. Christ is divine. Through the Word, God created, and when that same Word is preached and believed, people are saved.
But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:6-10 (KJV)
As Christ, the living Word, comes and lives in us, we also become the Word made flesh because we are united with Him. As we live like Christ, expressing Christ in our words and actions, we are living epistles, read and known of all men. We become the living Word when we live the Word of God. We become Christ-like, showing forth the character and nature of God. We reveal and manifest God in our lives so people can hear, see, and experience God. As Jesus brought God to us, we, by the being the Word, bring the Word to others. We do this by preaching, living, and speaking God’s Word.
Through Christ the living Word who expresses the heart and mind of God, we can express God as well. When we speak God’s Word, we speak life, the God kind of life. We speak the Word and we see it come to pass. We begin to experience victory, health, happiness, peace, and joy- a brand new world- a world and a life filled with God. As we speak and live out God’s Word, the Word becomes flesh and is lived out in our lives. Yes, Christ was the Word in the flesh and now He is the Word that lives through us. Because of that, we experience The Father, Son and Holy Spirit in a personal way. All of life begins and ends with Christ the Word.
