A Time To Live
God gives us times and seasons to accomplish what He put us on earth do. We must make the most of it.
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (KJV)
We are given a time to live starting when we breathe our first breath. We become spiritually alive when we are born-again and become alive to God.
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:14-17 (KJV) emphasis mine
Life is made up of time. What we do with our time determines how we live our lives. Our time on earth is the equivalent to our lives. Meditate on that a moment and let the truth of that sink in. It seems overly simple, but it is profound. Life=time.
Redeeming means to make the most of time. If we waste time, we are wasting our lives on things that won’t last and won’t make an eternal impact for God. When we use our time wisely, we are lviing wisely the way God planned for us to live.
One day I was looking at some old photos and I asked God, “Where did the time go?” I think anyone who has lived any period of time has asked this at one point or another. God’s response came back, “You lived it, Jim.” And I understood that life is actually time. When we live our lives for God, there will be meaning; we will live to know and glorify God and help others. Time will pass and so will all of us. What we do with our time determines who we become and what our lives stand for.
If you’ve lost time or wasted time, there is good news. You can redeem it, or buy it back in Christ. Christ can make up for lost time. Of course, we can’t go back in time and get it back. However, what previously took years to accomplish, God can supernaturally do in days. Live the best you can and trust God to do what you can’t. Living for God can produce more supernaturally than we could produce on our own in the natural. God gives us seed to sow- monetary seed, but also time. When we sow it, God multiplies it back with a quick return to us.
A good example of the redeeming of time, of buying up lost time, is found in Amos.
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt. Amos 9:13 (KJV)
This speaks of an acceleration of harvest. The grapes and grain will grow faster than they can be harvested. This is supernatural acceleration of your harvest.. What previously took time to harvest will come in much quicker. It will supernaturally accelerate from years to days, thus making up for lost or wasted time. God is a supernatural God and what takes man years to do can be done by Him in a day. God delivered Israel from Egypt in a day. God brought Jesus from the grave in a day. If you believe Him, God will accelerate and restore the years to you in a day.
And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten—the hopping locust, the stripping locust, and the crawling locust, My great army which I sent among you. Joel 2:25 (KJV)
