True Freedom
I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. Psalm 119:45 (New Living Translation, NLT)
But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. James 1:25 (New Living Translation, NLT)
The United States is a nation of people who place a high value on personal liberty and freedom. Even by looking at our founding documents, you can see that our forefathers were men who believed in the God of the Bible. Among the things they wrote, they noted that every man and woman are created with equal worth and are entitled by God with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Our God is a God of freedom. He does not force man to choose Him, but He gives each of us the freedom to choose whom we will follow- even if we make the wrong choice. He is not a restrictive God who keeps good things from us- quite the opposite. All good things come to us from the Father. Among the most important and finest of the things He has given us is His Word. His Word brings freedom to those who read and follow its precepts.
Following the Lord and His Word brings freedom from sickness, poverty, fear, addictions, loneliness, confusion, and spiritual death. His Words are spirit and life, and they bring life and liberty. The Bible is the Spirit-breathed and Spirit-quickened Word of Almighty God. The Holy Spirit is all over the pages of the Bible, bringing life to ink on paper. And wherever, He is, there is freedom and liberty.
For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. II Corinthians 3:17 (New Living Translation, NLT)
Today, we celebrate freedom as a nation. If you want to experience your own freedom as an individual, I highly recommend you get into the Bible and gain true freedom from the Word and the Spirit.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Galatians 5:1 (New International Version, NIV)
