Give God the Glory
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalm 29:2 (KJV)
What does it mean to give God the glory? How do we do it? In the Hebrew the phrase “the glory due unto His name” could be rendered “the honor of His name.” We are to give, or ascribe or attribute, to Him honor. Giving God the glory means to honor Him. And we do not receive for ourselves any of the honor that is due to Him.
God is God and He is worthy of all the glory, honor, and praise due to His name. We are to give Him what belongs to Him. Anything good in this earth and any good things that take place are from the hand of God. Even if God works through us to do it, we must not take the glory, the honor, that is due to Him.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11 (KJV)
As we worship God, we ascribe glory to God. We can bring Him honor in all we think, say, and do. We are to live, first and foremost, to bring glory, honor, and worship to the Lord. The more we worship Him, the more bring Him glory, and the more we experience His glory; His presence.
The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. Psalm 29:3 (KJV)
He is the Lord of Glory. He is the glorious One. He alone is worthy to receive honor. glory, and adoration. We are to make His name glorious. We are to spread His fame abroad over all the earth.
Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. Psalm 29:2 (New Living Translation, NLT)
