Jesus' Finished Work Still Works
While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. Luke 5:12-13 (English Standard Version, ESV)
A leper came to Jesus asking if Jesus was willing to make him clean. Jesus said, “I will.” He touched him, and the leper was cleansed. Many know that God can heal, but they wonder if He will. Just because someone didn’t receive what Jesus provided at the cross, in this case healing, doesn’t mean it isn’t God’s will for us to have it.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I Peter 2:24 (KJV) emphasis mine
We must keep believing God for that which we’ve asked for, such as healing. Although some don’t receive healing, God is still true and trustworthy. His Word will prevail, and Jesus’ finished work still works. God and His power are still the same today as it was in the days of Jesus’ earthly ministry. We must keep seeking God until the answer comes. This leper came to Jesus and Jesus responded to him by healing him. Once we know the revealed will of God, we can’t let go until we’ve obtained it.
And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs.]] Mark 16:20 (English Standard Version, ESV)
Jesus works with us to receive His finished work of the cross. He works with us to see His Word brought to pass.
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11 (English Standard Version, ESV)
Remember, the Holy Spirit raised Jesus’ body from the dead. Holy Spirit will “life” your body from sickness to wellness. God will bring you out of sickness and into wholeness; wholeness where that which was missing is restored. We have more working with us than are working against us (Philippians 2:13).
God cannot fail. God is God. Jesus is Lord, Holy Spirit is life. God, the Trinity, has done and given to us all we need to receive what we ask for: Jesus’ blood, Jesus’ Name, and Jesus’ Word. As we rely on these supernatural means, they will not fail. They will produce for us. Only believe and freely receive. It has all been provided. We ask and we receive if we do not faint and give up.
