By Loving God, You Love Life
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. I Peter 3:10-11 (KJV)
The Bible tells us to love life, but it doesn’t leave us to try to figure it out on our own. It tells us how to do it.
Much of it is dependent on what we do with our mouths. We must refrain from, or keep from, using our tongues for evil and for speaking deceit. What we speak will cause us to see good days or bad days. We can bless or curse our days with our words. Our words can give place to the devil to allow him to steal the love for life out of us. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and we will eat the fruit of our words (Proverbs 18:21), meaning we will experience what we say. What we speak is what we will see come to pass.
We are not to speak guile, or deceit. We must not tell someone one thing and do another. We need to be honest with people. The Bible tells us to speak the truth in love. We are to eschew, or turn from, evil. We are to do good. We do good by what we speak, how we speak, and our actions. We overcome evil with good.
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. Proverbs 15:1 (KJV)
We must seek peace by being peacemakers. we learn to keep the peace by watching our words and the tone of our words. Our words should minister peace and grace to people, not trouble and strife. We are to ensue peace, meaning we work to maintain it. We don’t have to be right all the time. We don’t always have to get our way. We don’t always have to have the last word.
All of this affects how we love life. Words affect our love levels. Words will help us love life by speaking good over our lives and about our lives. The more we accept life, Jesus the Life, the more we will love life. To love life, we change our thoughts, words, attitudes, and feelings by using God’s Word to do so.
Love God. Speak the Word. Speak good over your life. You will see good days. You will overcome bad days by speaking good over them. By loving God, you love life- and you’ll speak good and experience good.
