Under the Care of the Good Shepherd

Under the Care of the Good Shepherd

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:36-38 (New International Version, NIV)

Jesus, the Good Shepherd, saw the crowds and had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep who had no shepherd. Then Jesus instructs us to pray for workers for the harvest field.

we must follow Jesus’ example. We must have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts that care for the lost and unsaved. They are like sheep who are lost. They’ve been harassed, pushed around, and messed with by the enemy. we must go where they are to reach them and bring them to the Good Shepherd.

The enemy likes to harass people. Unsaved people are helpless to fight back because they do not have the power and authority of Jesus. The devil brings pain, poverty, and pressure to them. we can go and work with these peopel as Jesus has worked with us. Jesus cared for u and helps us. Now Jesus wants us to go and do the same for the hurting and helpless to bring them to Jesus. They can be under the care of the Good Shepherd where they are saved, healed, and protected.

These verses also show us what people endure when they are not in a local church and under a local pastor who can teach them the Word, care for them, help them, and love them through life’s problems. They help us grow up spiritually to be like Jesus and to do the work of the ministry, bringing in more people as laborers to work the harvest fields. Being under a local shepherd makes every believer a laborer who then finds others to be laborers who, in turn, find others to be laborers. As we bring people in, they can receive Christ into their hearts and be loved and cared for by Him and the body of Christ.

Let’s have a caring heart. Let’s have eyes to see. Let’s have ears to hear. Our hearts can reach out to others. Our eyes can see needs and meet them. Our ears can hear the cries of the lost and hurting so they can be made whole as Jesus has made us whole. They can live and prosper with us under the care of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
