Which Voice?
Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? Isaiah 53:1 (NKJV)
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8 (NKJV)
These days there are so many people speaking. So many contrasting stories abound. Whose report shall we believe? Which voice should we listen to? Where can we find truth?
Should we listen to the mainstream media? They have not proven to be very honest or truthful. In Philippians, God tells us to think on what is true and of a good report. If we have heard someone report things that prove to be false or fake, we need to turn away from their voice. Their reporting cannot be trusted. And this goes for reports on social media, print media, and other places as well.
In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. John 1:1 (Amplified Bible, AMP)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 (NKJV)
When we seek to know the truth, we must start with the Word of God, which is true and the source of all truth. God and His Word are one and God never lies. He is incapable of lying because He is the Truth. We get to know His voice in His Word, and we recognize Truth when He is speaking. We are to be led by the Holy Spirit, the Author of the Scriptures, into all truth. Holy Spirit, whose voice is heard throughout the Word of God, is still speaking to our hearts and can show us truth from lies. If we are seeking truth, He is the Spirit of Truth.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13 (NKJV)
We must rely on Holy Spirit to guide us and show us what is really going on and what is to come. He is the Source of truth. We must use the discernment He has given us to determine if something we hear or read is true. Holy Spirit will never lead us the wrong way.
So, when we hear something reported on television, radio, social media or in print, we need to take it to Holy Spirit, and He will confirm to our hearts if something is true or just a fabrication. It may take some time and we may have to meditate on it a while, but Holy Spirit will show us- as long as we are tuned in to Him. And what He shows us will always align with the Word of God. When we listen to the voice of the Spirit of God, we always hear the truth.
