What Would Jesus Do Tuesday?
The Reverend Charles Finney once said:
"The Church must take right ground in regard to politics... Politics are a part of a religion in such a country as this, and Christians must do their duty to the country as part of their duty to God... God will bless or curse this nation, according to the course Christians take in politics."
Tuesday is Election Day. It is critical that we vote and that we vote for those who support biblical values. For example, if we vote for someone who suppports abortion, then we are party to the murder of innocent babies. If you do not believe this, let me ask you a question. If you knew someone was planning to go out and kill a bunch of people by stabbing them, would you reach in your kitchen drawer and hand them your set of steak knives? Of course you wouldn’t. Why not? Because you understand that if you knowingly do such a thing, it makes you an accomplice in their crimes. The same is true if we knowingly support someone who will vote for legislation that makes it easy to slaughter babies in the womb. Between 1970 and 2014, CDC reports nearly 44.5 million legal induced abortions. In 2014 alone, over 650,000 abortions were reported to the CDC. I do not want the blood of all these babies on my hands, and I hope you don’t either.
Abortion is just one of a number of issues we should consider when voting. But, how do we know what the candidates support? The easiest and best way is to look at their party platforms. I am including a link here to a 3 minute video that will give you a brief, but telling, look at the two main political parties and their stand on the main topics of interest to Christians. Please take a look, go to the polls on Tuesday, pray, and vote the way that Jesus would vote. As you do, you will invoke God’s blessing upon yourself and upon this country.
