Your Personal Victory
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11 (KJV)
We will go through tests, temptation, and other experiences. Why? Because we have to learn how to overcome. If there’s nothing to overcome, how can we become overcomers? We can’t!
For example, David conquered the bear and the lion. These were personal victories he had to experience in order to overcome a giant. The personal victory prepared him for the public one. It gave him the boldness and confidence to face and stand down that giant. He understood that nothing was too big for God. It all started when David learned to overcome the enemy by himself with God’s help. If we can’t overcome in private, we won’t overcome in public. We learn to trust God comes in the hard times, not the easy times. And each personal victory gets us stronger.
Jesus overcame three temptations in the wilderness. E.W. Bullinger says that the number 3 speaks of completeness, perfection, the divine. David conquered the lion, bear, and the giant- three things. Jesus defeated the three temptations of satan by speaking God’s Word three times. And we know that Jesus rose on the third day. So we see that each time we gain a victory, God is completing what He started in us.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
God has personal victories for each of us. He is using them to complete us and prepare us for public victories.
